Barbara lived in our neighborhood. I knew her brother and sister. As Belinda asked. Does anyone know what happened?

I hadn't heard about Barbara. Cindy, didn't her brother die when we were kids, I remember something about diving off cliffs in La Jolla and drowning or something like that.

Kathy,

You're right her brother, Rodney did drown. He was at the beach in IB. He was in 5th or 6th grade. He had a girlfriend at the time, Tonya Wilson, who had taken it very hard. I remember it being very sad. As to how Barbara died, I believe it was natural. I think she was living on the streets. When she died, her family did not come forward to claim her for about 3 weeks. Very sad.

That's so sad Wendy. That family has lost 2 children now. I was thinking her brother was cliff diving in La Jolla when he died, I'm not sure why I was thinking it was La Jolla. I remember the family being so broken up about it though, it was so sad.

When a silbing loses a brother or sister. Unless the family gets grieve couseling and support. The kids get lost in the overwheming emotions. They get stuck in one of the 5 stages of grief. Depending on if one or both parents get stuck. I did not know that Barbara lost a brother through a accident. Sometimes they get lost to drugs to numb the pain and loss. In my childhood I remember 2 freinds, one died in a skate board accident and the other drowning in the SweetWater dam. As I cryed for not a family member, I can only image the pain Barbara must of felt loseing her brother. How can one be happy when they miss someone close at such a young age. How can they make a go towards a happy life????????? I am praying for the family.

I didn't know that Barbara died. I do remember Rodney. He used to hang out with my ex-boyfriend, Juan Lizarraga. They were all at the beach in IB. He went in the water although he didn't know how to swim. They didn't find him for several weeks until his dad found him on Father's day. That was the story I knew from Juan who was with him when he was lost. Rodney was in Jr. High.

Barbara's death is so sad. It serves as a reminder that anyone can end up in trouble, given the right circumstances, and that, as such, we need to help and support each other without being judgmental.
